Top Four Questions to Ask Before Getting a Pet

The addition of a pet to the family can be an exciting event, especially if there are children involved, but having a pet is a very big responsibility. The decision to invite a new pet into the home should be one that is thought out extensively and everyone in the household should be involved. Not only does having a pet require being financially ready but emotionally, mentally, and physically as well. Many people decide to take on a pet only to realize that they have little time or patience for the new addition to the family.

Asking yourself a few questions before deciding to get a pet will help you to decide if you are really ready for one. Listed are the top four questions you should ask yourself before making a final decision. Do you have time for a pet? – Any pet, whether it be a cat, dog, bird, or hamster, requires an owner with the time to take care of it. Animals must be given love and attention just like children, they must be bathed and groomed, have daily exercise, and be fed on a fairly regular schedule.

Often people who work extreme hours will take on a pet only to realize that they must get rid of it due to a lack of time to take care of it. Before getting a pet sit down and figure out if you will have time to care for it. If you decide that you don’t have the time you can also consider hiring someone to help you care for the pet but the pest must be properly cared for whether is be by you or with the aid of outside help.

Do have enough income to take on the extra financial burden? – Often individuals do not realize how much money it takes to care for a pet. Many people only take into consideration the cost of food and fail to consider other expenses like grooming and vet services as well as emergency situations that may require extra funds. Try and figure out a realistic budget for having a pet before deciding to get one.

Do you have room in your home for a pet? – Pets need room to run and play, especially dogs, and you should be sure you have enough room for a new pet and that you will in the future. Take into consideration the size that your pet will grow to, not only the size that it is, before bringing a pet into your home so that you don’t have to decide later down the road that you have to get rid of it. Also you want to be sure that you will not be moving in the near future as it can be very difficult to find rentals that are pet friendly.

Does everyone agree on getting a pet? – Having a pet that not everybody wants can make things very difficult. Be sure that everyone in the household agrees on the pet so that the pet is properly cared for. Making sure your ready for a pet will make the pets transition into your home much easier for both your new pet as well as yourself so be sure to ask yourself these few questions before making a final decision.

Put a teaspoon of cider vinegar in your FEMALE dogs water everytime you change it…it neutralise's the acid in the urine and doesn't burn your lawn/grass so much.

I finally found out the trick to get the fish like after losing 10-20 apples -.- LOL

Ok, once the fish bites, reel in by holding onto your pet, and when it turns red, let go, or you will end up losing your bait -_- Once you let go, the line (reel) will turn black once again and then you reel it back in. Stop when it turns red, and continue this till the reel gets closer to you. You will finally get something out from the pond :D

    Good Luck :P

Typically dogs don't pee where they sleep, so if you start the crate training process eventually she will not do it anymore. Don't punish her when she goes in the house because at this point she doesn't know its bad. Just watch her like a hawk and if she gets in business position then scoop her up and take her outside and wait until she goes and say go potty over and over until she does then say good girl and give treat or pet or something good. You absolutley have to be consistant this is the most important part of the whole thing. I would reccomend taking her out every 30 min to 1hr for a while until she starts to catch on. Good luck, im sure it will all work out and when its all done, you will think how easy it was.
I wouldn't reccomend getting the pads, dogs are suppose to pee outside, if they think they can go inside pad or no pad they will. Its not an easy thing to break when they are older. Train her to go outside while she is still a baby

Actually…you cant do any damage with a q-tip. Their ear cannals are shapped like an “L”, they’re not like a human ear cannal. That is wat my vet taught me when my puppy had an ear infection and I had to clean the ears regularly. So no worries! :)

  9. thts cool. seeing as i don't have a diictodon as a pet, i don't know, but i would just go back 250 million years ago and gather plants that they ate back then

  12. I have four very healthy pet rats. I cover their cage at night simply because I have a ceiling fan that can often make the room cold. I use an old comforter, but I do not cover a couple inches of the bottom. However, if your room does not get cold, there is no reason to cover their cage. Feed them fruits two times a week and vegetables every day. Try tomatoes, carrots, cooked potato, bananas (not green), and apple. Make sure you change their water daily, do not use wood shaving bedding, make sure they never run out of food, give them plenty of places to hide, climb, and play on, and give them atleast an hour of play outside of the cage.

well if your dog or cat may have broken a leg you must grab a ruler or other suportive object and straigten the limb than wrap a rolled up newspaper or magazine around the leg and tie it so the leg stays supported and carefully transport your pet to a veterinarian where they will apply a real cast

  16. if you live in the northern hemisphere it's currently summer and it's normal for pets to shed. Some more than others of course – if your pets are shedding considerably then it can be a medical issue as well as a poor diet. If both are up to par, then just vacuum vacuum and more vacuum, i have 3 dogs at home, they're on a high quality diet and very healthy – yet i still find hairballs around the house everyday. just part of being a pet owner.
